Principles and fundamental aspects of our translation work
From the multitude of translation strategies with their own parameters known in the general linguistics, translation and interpreting academia and designed for a specific purpose in each case, we take into account at least the following (extract) in our standard set targets:
- Genre of text
- Kind of text
- Target group
- Language:
depending on the specification in the standard language of the continental versions - Communicative aim:
Optimum degree of rendering of the contents of the source text, whereby in the case of the latter it is assumed that this involves a deliberate/justifiable and explicitly articulated template which is binding in all its semantic respects; - Vocabulary/ technical terminology:
In so far as they are available in the generally accessible reference sources; this also applies to languages not recorded exhaustively from a lexical viewpoint. These demand particularly prudent handling as problem areas; information regarding special terminology and lexical developments (internal technical jargon) specific to the customer are to be added if required.
